A note from Tara Shilling, the founder

With a trip to Samye Ling cancelled due to the petrol crisis, we are making the most of it and catching up with paperwork. While nearly everyone is sympathetic, it is still a lot of disruption for everyone. The Lovely Hazel was actually barricaded on the Isle of Sheppey! Still, she is off this week decorating her kitchen which, down the 'phone looks smashing!

No real revelations this month, everything going OK, and we will be cracking on from next week when Hazel officially starts (well gets paid anyway).

We did have a table at a Psychic & Complementary Fair on Sunday - our first. Went well and all the goods we had for sale will be available on the web soon - come on Steve! In fairness to him he has been jetting about and concentrating on other web-sites as well as maintaining therapypages.com. We have also learned a great deal for the next Fair - tablecloths for instance!

You will find us in person at the next Psychic & Complementary Fair we are attending on 12th November 2000 at the Cerebral Palsy Centre in Cliffe Woods, Rochester, Kent between 11-4.30pm. Ring Sharon from Mystic Mouse the organisers on 01634 270907 for further details.

Love and light and chocolate,
Tara.

This spiritual book is full of lovely quotes, reflections with simple exercises to increase your self-awareness and question your beliefs. This book tackles the question of guides or guardian angels as well as looking at the connection between our emotional well being and our physical well being. A clinical psychologist, Gill offers to the reader a down-to-earth book on the spiritual self. A very approachable work-book style manual to emotional balance and harmony that draws from many sources for this inspirational read.

This earlier book by 2 years is the basis for Stepping into the Magic as it focuses on the concept of reality and opens up the possibility of higher beings working with us in the physical realm. Again, written in an easy to read format with plenty of exercises to try out the concepts offered.

These books can be read together or entirely as stand-alone books under their own merit.

Recipe page

This month's recipe is a Tara-made-it-up.

Quorn and Apple pie Vegetarian (Quorn contains free-range egg, to make vegan use tofu)
To make it a meat dish, substitute the Quorn with pork
Serve with roasted (organic) potatoes and veg. of your choice.

Serves 4-6 (reduce the quantities pro rata or make two smaller ones and freeze one for a later date) I make this much each time and it does 2 hearty meals for us 3.

You will need:

Preperation:

Use a deep frying pan or saucepan.
(Peel, cut and par-boil the potatoes here)
Lightly fry onions in little olive oil, then add Quorn, allow to brown slightly.
Add the apple juice or cider, apple sauce, herbs and stock cubes.
Cook on medium heat for 10 minutes.
Roll out pastry and line the greased pie dish.
Add cornflour to the pan to thicken the pie ingredients (dissolve first in a little cold water)

Once thickened, you can put into pie dish and add top. Cook in medium to hot oven for 35-45 minutes on the middle shelf (Put potatoes in (organic) olive oil on the top shelf) until golden brown.

Boil some veg. 10-15 minutes before the cooking time ends for it to all be ready at the same time.

Serve with gravy (you could make apple gravy with the remainder juice/cider with water using the roux method or simply heat the liquid to near boiling, add herbs and/or a stock cube and then add some cornflour dissolved in cold water to thicken. Bring to the boil before serving.
